A robotic firm revealed its latest creation:
Quadruped robot dogs built specifically for fighting fires. And holy moly, these things are impressive.
The robots feature a water cannon that can shoot water or foam up to 60 meters (that's nearly 200 feet) with a flow rate of 40 liters per second.
The cannon can aim anywhere from 5° to 85°, letting it target fires in practically any direction.
What makes these robot firefighters special is their mobility. They can climb steps up to 40 cm high (about 16 inches), making them perfect for navigating through burning buildings or rough terrain. They're built from composite metals with a cooling system that lets them operate continuously in hot, dangerous environments.
They have already started deploying these robots in the field.
The Qingdao firefighting and rescue support team recently introduced two of these robot dogs to their emergency response arsenal.
During a forest fire exercise, the robots helped put out flames and then continued to patrol the area afterward, checking regularly to ensure the fires stayed out.
In another drill simulating an underground store fire, a reconnaissance robot dog accessed the scene using the mall's elevator (yes, it can operate elevators) and carried out multi-level environmental recon.
What's particularly useful is how these robots stream live video to a visualization platform, allowing remote teams to see exactly what's happening on-site in real time. This means human firefighters can make faster, safer decisions without putting themselves in danger.
The robot dogs also have a quick-swap battery system, letting teams change batteries in seconds without interrupting missions - ensuring they can keep going as long as needed.

Fire rescue is one application, but what other dangerous jobs would you trust to a robot dog? Search and rescue? bomb disposal? exploring radioactive sites?

Or would you just want one to fetch your slippers? Let us know what you think!

Going back to nostalgia, remember those school days when you’d fill in the blanks to test your knowledge?
Well, here’s your chance to relive that!
